Sindhi Community Felicitates 10th & 12th Toppers in Dubai

Success is always applauded. And this year’s board results were exceptional and worth appreciation. A well-known group of people from the Sindhi Community of Dubai undertook the task of organising a Sindhi Award Ceremony to honour 35 meritorious 10th and 12th grade graduates of there community who scored 90% and above. It was held on 30 June 2019 at the Sindhi Ceremonial Hall in Bur Dubai.

Students were felicitated by Mr Vasu Shroff, Chairman of the Regal group of companies, Dr.Ram Buxani, chairman of a 60-year-old business conglomerate ITL Cosmos Group and and Mrs. Veena Ram Buxani. Both (Shroff & Buxani) families are among the first few Indians to migrate from India and settle on UAE’s deserted land sometime before 1960s and are flourishing their businesses since then.

The event was supported by Sindhi Sangath NGO and sponsored by Mr. Vasu Shroff. The function, headed by Roshni Manwani and Karishma Chawla, was inclusive of live traditional and folk Sindhi songs and music, speeches by chief guests, jokes and one-liners and gift distribution.

Chief Guests stressed on the importance among youth to protect and preserve their mother tongue. Regardless of community efforts to keep it alive, Sindhi language is diminishing from the world. The young Sindhi generation is quite far from their mother tongue Sindhi. Hence a number of Sindhi associations are putting in their hard efforts to spread awareness among youth to protect their language.

The main objective of this function was to motivate and bring forward Sindhi youth to contribute for the preservation of their ancient Sindhi language and culture. For this purpose, the event also showcased performances by some Sindhi youth who voluntarily came up to inspire other students and their parents.
