Red Alert in Mumbai after over 25 people have been killed in heaviest rain in 14 years..

Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has requested people to stay indoors, as The weather office has put a red alert for Mumbai today, warning of more rains in coming days.

Mumbai on Tuesday is in a state of panic caused by heavy rain which left over 25 people dead.Schools have been shut down and people have been asked to work from home.

Mumbai has recorded heaviest rain in last 14 years of around 375 mm since 26 July 2005.

Many long distance trains have been cancelled after railway tracks were flooded.

Last night because of bad weather, a Spice jet plane skidded off the main runway which forced a shutdown of the main runway at the airport due to which many flights have been cancelled and diverted.According to Airport officials Mumbai airport may take upto 48 hours to restore operations.

Indian Navy has deployed teams to provide assistance in rescue operations.
